This question asks for a number or a calculation.

You can enter whole numbers, negative numbers, or decimal numbers. If you enter a decimal value, be sure to give at least 3 decimal places.

Alternatively, you can enter mathematical expressions. Some examples:
EnterTo get
sqrt(4)4\displaystyle \sqrt{{{4}}} = 2
2/(5-3)253\displaystyle \frac{{2}}{{{5}-{3}}} = 1
3^232\displaystyle {3}^{{2}} = 9
sin(pi)sin(π)\displaystyle {\sin{{\left(\pi\right)}}} = 0
arctan(1)arctan(1)=π4\displaystyle {\arctan{{\left({1}\right)}}}=\frac{\pi}{{4}} (note: tan^-1(1) will not work)
(sin(2))^2 (sin(2))2\displaystyle {\left({\sin{{\left({2}\right)}}}\right)}^{{2}} (note: sin^2(2) will not work)
log(100)log(100)\displaystyle {\log{{\left({100}\right)}}} = 2

Note that when entering functions like log, sqrt, sin, cos, etc. that you must use parentheses. "sin(3)" will work, but "sin3" and "sin 3" will not.
