Finding Horizontal Intercepts of Quadratic Functions. Graphing/Intercepts Method
Identify the Horizontal Intercepts using the Intersect Feature on your calculator
Enter the function into y1.
Enter 0 into y2.
Graph the function. [Hint: Use the following window: Xmin = -8, Xmax = 8, Ymin = -5, Ymax = 14]
Use the Intersection Function to find the Horizontal Intersects.
Use the Minimum or Maximum Function to find the Vertex
Draw the graph using the Poly Tool. Plot the Vertex and one other point
Plot each of the Horizontal Intercepts on the graph using the Point Tool. [Warning: The points from the Poly Tool don't count. You must use the Point Tool]
Write the Horizontal Intercepts as a list of Ordered Pairs below. [Hint: If two Horizontal Intercepts exist, enter them as (x1,y1),(x2,y2). If only one exists, enter (x1,y1). If none exist, enter DNE.
