Part 1 of 5

An image of a coffee machine and multiple coffee cups.

A self-serving coffee-dispensing machine at a gas station convenience store is supposed to deliver 8 oz when a small drink is ordered. A quality control engineer claims that the mean serving of a coffee-dispensing machine is different from 8 oz per serving. A simple random sample of 26 servings shows the following data:
7.87.37.47.78.3
8.38.17.97.77.9
6.67.47.97.98.4
8.58.38.788.8
8.78.27.68.18.1
7.8
At the 10% significance level, test the quality control engineer's claim assuming that the population standard deviation of servings is 0.45 oz. You may also assume that the sample is from a normal population. (Note: The average and the standard deviation of the data are respectively 7.98 oz and 0.49 oz.)
